Just as an interesting note.. even when the Asiana Flight crashed people had time to grab bags and leave… so if you make your items accessible and ready they could save your life. SAN RAMON, Calif. — Supporting wires holding up a large radio tower were cut, possibly with bolt cutters, causing it to collapse, authorities revealed early Tuesday. East Bay Regional Park District Police said they had been notified that a tower on Rocky Ridge, located west of San Ramon and Danville, had failed and collapsed early Monday morning. Officers responded to the scene and found that no injuries had occurred and that vandalism may have been involved in the incident. The 20-to-30 foot tower supports radio communications systems — 2-way, cellular, microwave links, ham radios — across the East Bay.Police were continuing to investigate the cause of tower's collapse. Anyone with information regarding the incident is urged to contact police at (510) 881-1833.

Krebs on Security has posted a new item. Over the past six months, "fans" of this Web site and its author have shown their affection in some curious ways. One called in a phony hostage situation that resulted in a dozen heavily armed police surrounding my home. Another opened a $20,000 new line of credit in my name. Others sent more than $1,000 in bogus PayPal donations from hacked accounts. Still more admirers paid my cable bill for the next three years using stolen credit cards. Malware authors haveeven used my name and likeness to peddle their wares. But the most recent attempt to embarrass and fluster this author easily takes the cake as the most elaborate: Earlier this month, the administrator of an exclusive cybercrime forum hatched and executed a plan to purchase heroin, have it mailed to my home, and then spoof a phone call from one of my neighbors alerting the local police. Thankfully, I had already established a presence on his forum and was able to monitor the scam in real time and alert my local police in advance of the delivery. http://krebsonsecurity.com/2013/07/mail-from-the-velvet-cybercrime-underground/ I will stick with sunsets as my hobby….

Hmmmmmmmmmm – I smell and ass chewing coming on… Hey managers and business owners out there.. How do you deal with employees that just do not get it? Do you motivate them with rewards or motivate them by taking away..? I do not have kids.. but this can sure feel like it… sadly I cannot smack my employees back into reality like I would my own kid…
Why do I have employees that I tell to do things only to find nothing has been done and then I need to do it? We will not mention the fact I have told people to do this for three weeks straight, and it took me all of an hour to get what they could not get done in three weeks done and organized… Hmmmmmmmmmm – I smell and ass chewing coming on… Hey managers and business owners out there.. Is one of the things you say on a shoot – "I will fix it in post"? I sure know I have said it.. I said that once in front of a pro level friend of mine and he smacked me on the back of my head and said I will never become a pro with that mind set.. I have to say I think he is right… This is an example.. it is far from some artistic masterpiece, but its an example of taking a blah turd of an image and trying to polish the best I can with the tools I have to make it more interesting. What do you think? Is it worthy of keeping? Should I have thought more about exposure in the original image and less about post? This shot was from back in 2004 when I was just starting and now even an image that was shot years ago and I am not so proud of might have been turned into something much more interesting with little more than 3 filters and some photoshop tweaking. I am far from a pro with photoshop or a camera, but the options and almost limitless with RAW […]
