I have determined that I will be trying to take at least a bit of time each night to learn new things or refresh skills in photography. The next 4 days will be filled with a huge refresher from +Trey Ratcliff and his online seminar… Honestly I am one that jumps onto things and comes back to the basics, it is high time I reinforce my basic photography knowledge to hopefully make me a much better photographer overall… View this post on Google+

Just a reminder to get in on this upcoming online seminar this week if you have not…
Just a reminder to get in on this upcoming online seminar this week if you have not yet signed up. I know many have differing opinions on Trey, but as one who has taken an online seminar – I have to say it was very well done and I still refer back to the materials to this day.  I plan on re-learning and refreshing a ton based on this one… also I am all for learning how others do things to better my own performance…. Reshared post from +Brent Burzycki I highly recommend these trainings +Trey Ratcliff does online – Especially for the beginner, thou any semi pro or pro could get great info from them also I took the HDR tutorial and not only did I learn a ton (I had never shot one HDR before the online seminar) but I made cool friends and still have copies of the tutorial to reference. I do not shoot everyday and I forget a ton of things, to be able to shoot back into the seminar and refresh my memory is worth the money alone. Right now you and a friend can sign up for the class for a special price, I am actually […]

Finally ApoD is on g+
In album July 2012 (1 photo) That's a must follow…. Reshared post from +Astronomy Picture of the Day (APoD) Ash and Lightning Above an Icelandic VolcanoImage Credit & Copyright: +Sigurdur Arnar Stefnissonhttp://apod.nasa.gov/apod/ap120730.html Why did the picturesque 2010 volcanic eruption in Iceland create so much ash? Although the large ash plume was not unparalleled in its abundance, its location was particularly noticeable because it drifted across such well-populated areas. The Eyjafjallajökull volcano in southern Iceland began erupting on 2010 March 20, with a second eruption starting under the center of a small glacier on 2010 April 14. Neither eruption was unusually powerful. The second eruption, however, melted a large amount of glacial ice which then cooled and fragmented lava into gritty glass particles that were carried up with the rising volcanic plume. Pictured above during the second eruption, lightning bolts illuminate ash pouring out of the Eyjafjallajökull volcano. This post has been reshared 10 times on Google+ View this post on Google+

Holy killer house paint
Reshared post from +Sharon Strandskov *I want to coat every wall in my house with this paint*  …and I am 90% sure I am actually going to do it in my home office, at the very least. It is clear, so it can go over any color paint you already have in your home, and it will allow you to jot down notes, diagram anything and everything, draw pictures… oh, this is just way too much fun! http://www.whiteyboard.com/products/clear-dry-erase-paint.html This post has been reshared 3 times on Google+ View this post on Google+

I have to say TED talks are a great
This one is all about a photographer that decided a change was in order and ended up with life changing results… Giles was a photographer who, some years ago, tired of celebrity photoshoots and the attendant egos and tantrums that often accompanied them. He flung his camera on the photoshoot bed and it bounced out the window into the streets of SoHo, London. At that point he decided to change course and dedicated himself to using his camera to "tell unheard stories of those caught in conflict and economic hardship around the world." His work took him to Sudan, Angola, Ukraine and Bangladesh, among other places. Early in 2011, on assignment in Afghanistan, Duley stepped on a landmine. Despite the fact that the horrific accident left Duley a triple amputee, he continues to dedicate his life to telling stories through photography. Reshared post from +TED Today's TEDTalk: Photojournalist Giles Duley set out to document the stories of the forgotten, and ended up finding his own. Well I am looking for input…..so let's hear it
Bad, good, love it or hate it… let me know – Rather than just + 1 it – since there is not -1 button.. please take a second to type a comment and let me know… Many of us are making a trek back through our portfolios and are going to be relying on good feedback from G+ to motivate the direction of our work…. Don't worry – I have decided I need to take photos of cats outside near a nice landscape using HDR techniques to be famous.. I just want to get better at what I am trying to do now then i can bring on the cat photos… #btlcritique   #btlphotocritique   +Behind the Lens: Photo Critique Group  View this post on Google+

From the weekend shoot
The equipment failure was related to a Alien Bees Cybercommander that took on a life of its own and would not stop triggering my lighting. It was literally possessed… Apparently me not taking the time to properly pre-flight my equipment or pack things away without batteries inside them – then taking way too much time between shoot can lead to battery corrosion and failure of equipment in middle of the shoot.. PSA for Today would be: Check your equipment before you pack it away and more than an hour before a shoot to make sure you do not look like a non professional. View this post on Google+
