If you do something like a 365 and commit to it, it will make you take more photos, but I've finished mine just over a week ago, and I'm still carrying mine around with me, I don't take all that many photos now but it gives me the option if I really want to.

But as long as the weight and the camera doesn't get in the way, why not?

I think many things will get in the way.. but I think I need to force myself to carry my big camera for awhile…

I carry my G10 everywhere – and my phone but I need to become much more knowledgable about more than my normal shooting style… I think forcing myself to shoot with my DSLR etc might do that..

Or it will just piss me off and it will get stolen out of my truck…

    One or the other..

Yeah, although getting it stolen wouldn't be worth it, I know I have what most people would call a rubbish car so no one even bothers to try and steal it (from what I know at least).
But if you carry you're DSLR with you all the time, maybe consider setting a target, like capturing birds while they're flying, otherwise if you're like me you'll just take photos of what you like and comfortable.

Sunset's are probably one of my favourite subjects, especially 30 minutes to an hour after the actual sunset. Hopefully it's Summer for you, it get's really cold by the water in winter so I'm not really doing that many sadly.

If you're close to water you should do some long exposures, it's always interesting the results waves have.
