As I come to the end of 2012 I am looking for some lost images that needed a lot more TLC than I knew how to give when I first shot them…. this model deserved more than the first run results…. Well they looked good back then but now when i look at them – my eye has changed greatly.. What you you all think? So awhile back +Trey Ratcliff came out with a set of new presets, I picked them up to see what or how I could creatively use them based on my style of work. I do not shoot a ton of landscape work so I decided what the heck let's give them a try on what I do shoot.. What do you think? This shot was processed with the "Aurora" preset…… The presets in the bundle are very interesting, they are multi functional and range from very well over the top to some subtle changes that really can spruce up an image… worth the money if you ask me.. After posting a question to 500px here are the answers for items related to sale of images…on the new marketplace This is only somewhat related to nude image sales and printing, but there are many other questions that will pertain to everyone using the service. The only question i failed to ask was that of variable downloaded image pricing. So I will try to get that answered also as I know many would feel the 2.99 price is not enough for personal use…. I would like to thank Alex at +500px for taking the time to answer the questions. I have to say i find their changes very positive so far and they seem to be listening to the users. I would hope to see more features and sales items, but for now it is very interesting at least to me.. I have also ordered one of their Canvas prints and will report back on how it shows up and what the overall quality is for the price. Well it's Sunday I desperately need more sleep and more weekend but since I am tired of working on real work it was time to edit a photo and see what happens when I post it here on G+. Many ask me daily why I like G+, I say interaction, many say they have tried it and they here crickets, I say try harder….. many will say both positive and negative things about this shot… I say keep it up… this is easily the best community for photos (see how I did not just say photographers) out there… Now I would love to see a few things added: – Better private messaging – Ability to add multiple links inside a post and more formatting options – And the ability to add photos to comments, this would be great but probably also a disaster, but should be an option as following up on a post with new or related images would be a nice addition. – I would love a way to archive my current site here to G+ – like with a WordPress importer or some way to backup hundred of posts I had prior to G+ here in my stream without pissing off everyone in the process. It is truly amazing what can be pulled out of a more than drab initial photo… Maybe tomorrow if people are interested I will post a side by side of the original out of camera shot and the finals I came up with tonight. I think many here might think what they see on their stream is reality… It is usually very much not reality as the camera sees it but what is then created is what reality we might see through the lens…. I need to spend more time trying to better understand what makes a good portrait… Is it the look and feel? Is it the model? Is it both? What are people looking for in a portrait? To just look pretty? to look sexy in a different way than all their friends shots? or to show a side of themselves they rarely allow others to see? They can bring really cool effects, mood, and interest to shots but I think I have found myself shooting and thinking more about post process than about the shot I am taking at the time and making it a really good shot. I think this might be an issue, and I think I need to change that theory of shooting. I am not sure I am lazy, or I think it might be just easier to concentrate less on current shot specifics, dynamics and production details. But I do think it is making my final product suffer. As an example this shot below, it is not bad, I hate the arm and left hand position. I wonder if I was even thinking about that arm position when I was taking the shot, or was I think about how this shot would look in post with filters applied? Or was I not even caring about the shoot enough to see the issues. Pose, backdrop, floor ac vent, dark pillow on a light couch etc.. It is clear to me to advance my photography it will require me to really start to pay attention to the details and not get or continue […]

I edit and shoot when I can..and I have been happy with that in the past.. it seems like I am noo longer happy with that or G+ is slowly taking over the motivation zone in my brain to actually apply myself more to photography. So here is the deal… take a moment to drop a critique here on this image and post a link for a shot you want me to critique of yours….. Single Light Alien Bees B80044" UmbrellaNikon D100Some kind of lens… I think it was a 24/85 All I can say the image quality level between the D100 and now the D300s is substantial – the sensors have got so much better over time….. That and my lighting skills have improved much from just a few years ago… it goes to show good lighting is key.. something that could have improved this shot would be a better focus point and a touch better metering.. I must have been in a hurry or too worried to take the shot properly… Tip of the night…. Take the time to slow down, and get the shot you want….it might only come once… View this post on Google+
