SR-71 faster auplane who have titanium for better Protection of big themocracy make now when is ready for take fuel the fuel who make dowh now that have nasa
The craziest thing about the Blackbird was that it was virtually impossible to shoot it down. The pilot would punch the throttle and outrun any missile fired at it.
The plane was in more danger on the ground before take-off. To save weight, it had no fuel tanks; the fuel was contained within the skin of the aircraft. But because of the thermal expansion of the metal at high speed, the skin had grooves that would expand shut as the airframe heated up in flight. Immediately before takeoff, the plane would be fueled up, then race down the runway and into the air with jet fuel streaming behind it until it heated up and the grooves sealed the fuel inside.
@David G- I've seen the same (or similar) video. It leaks. It's been too long, but the generator used to spin up the engines on the ground also looked like they were on fire (probably due to said leaks). It was a cool plane while it lasted. It was fueled after taking off due to this.
Note that this is not the only plane like this, but maybe most famous.
One of my favorite Birds
Fitted my fleet for bombing and rockets @ madman reaper squads.
Que bonito.

Hello, very fast airplane
Black Bird SR-71

Wtf!
That one of the jets
+George Beckingham So it leaked fuel while it was parked? That is what I have heard.
From what I've heard, it never stayed parked while fueled. It was filled up immediately before takeoff, and must have been drained upon landing.
I have seen a documentary where they showed the fuel leaking.
