Looks like some sort of monitoring system – reminds me of a large scale barometric device… atmospheric detection, meteors and major explosions I guess.

I'm going to guess a seismic detector of some sort… the longish poles seem like they'd be very sensitive to vibration in the ground beneath.

I think it is Infrasound station see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Infrasound

    Radio telescope? :/

I think you're probably correct, +Peter Kollek. And, if so, then I'm also partly correct (though less specific) because the wikipedia page says, in part, "The study of such sound waves is referred to sometimes as infrasonics, covering sounds beneath 20 Hz down to 0.001 Hz. This frequency range is utilized for monitoring earthquakes, charting rock and petroleum formations below the earth, and also in ballistocardiography and seismocardiography to study the mechanics of the heart." -from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Infrasound

    Hooray! We're officially smart!  🙂

Correct +Peter Kollek very cool tech that many no nothing about… Used recently for listening to the Meteor impact in Russia as the low range frequencies traveled back and forth across the globe for a day or more….

Originally used for detecting Nuclear Blasts – well "illegal" nuke testing…

+Brent Burzycki do you have a link for the meteor impact? I'd like to read more.
