Well I just bought a Kindle – Might as well see what our book looks like on it….
http://goo.gl/ud52l – We will see if I hate it… seeing I still love a paper book…

That and I bought the New Steve Simon book: The Passionate Photographer

I have listened to Steve on TWIP Photo and I like his attitude but I have no clue how to work as a photo journalist, maybe this will provide some incite to his career.

Coincidentally, I just bought an iriver, due to google books integration (I already have two large kindles). Apparently this book is sold for $10 less over here: http://goo.gl/nRz7e

yeah, loving my kindle… the only time I buy print copies is that if I know I will share the book with someone else…

+Ivan Yudhi I find it interesting that this photo book is 4 bucks less on kindle.. I would think a photo based book would lose much on the Kindle…

+Romain Guy do you have this new one? I am curious – those that have them say its the best one yet….

  4. Ivan Yudhi 7 Oct 2011 Reply

+Brent Burzycki it won't lose anything if you open it on ipad.. or your monitor… of course it would be foolish to buy a photobook to be used on regular kindle…

+Ivan Yudhi +Romain Guy – thanks…. also good point – i can read the color books on the reader for ipad and text on the standard one…. the touch version is still awhile out right?

+Romain Guy So it ships after the Fire…. hmm.. Thou the new Amazon browser interests me.. I cannot see having yet another Tablet…

Thou it is running some sort of Android OS right? – Is there any talk about Aps and if they will only be the ones from the Amazon App store that will run?

+Romain Guy crud… now I might need to get one….

  8. Ivan Yudhi 7 Oct 2011 Reply

thinking of getting one myself.. but I already have ipad… don't need more toys….. 🙁

  9. Brent Burzycki 7 Oct 2011 Reply

+Ivan Yudhi we all need more toys… we just should not spend so much money on them.. 🙂

I use the Kindle app on my iPad, +Brent Burzycki… I LOOOVE it!! I love going places without having to carry books, but having lots to read. I can read in bed with the lights out and don't have to balance a reading light whilst holding the page open. (oops, I shouldn't mention that perk. Can't do that with an actual Kindle) I love how quickly you can buy, download and start reading a new book. I don't have to store or find a home for books that have outlived their usefulness. Oh hell, I just love it!!

+Karen Hutton I got the kindle leather cover attached with light… power comes from kindle… love it..

+Ivan Yudhi… REALLY? I didn't know about that one!! That is soooo cooooool!! and now officially makes Kindles the BEST ever! Besides the kindle app on the iPad that is. heh. :-))

  13. Brent Burzycki 7 Oct 2011 Reply

+Ivan Yudhi So that's why the case it 30 bucks?

+Karen Hutton I hate to say I still like to totally disconnect from tech with a paper book….

  14. Ivan Yudhi 7 Oct 2011 Reply

+Karen Hutton yeah… 🙂 I can't really stand reading on ipad though… the glass and backlight is really straining my eyes… so I just use it for photobooks mostly… when I want to read I use my kindle…

different device for different purpose 🙂

Yep… it's so cool we have options +Ivan Yudhi! We are verrry lucky.

Odd question – but are they easy/comfortable to hold? I have an aunt with severe Rheumatoid Arthritis and she has a hard time holding a book for very long. We were considering getting her one for Christmas.

  18. Nico Potgieter 7 Oct 2011 Reply

We have 2 kindle at home .. and they are both used a lot. It is very light to hold and easy to operate. It is only a pleasure using the Kindle!!!

I have that case with the light. Many times in bed i take it out of the case and it is so light

What, you didn't buy the Kindle Fire? WTF?

  21. Ivan Yudhi 7 Oct 2011 Reply

+elizabeth hahn the kindle that I have (regular 3g) is VERY easy and comfortable to hold WITHOUT the cover… the cover add some depth and might be a bit uncomfortable to some people… I have big hands so no problem here 🙂

but it's still a lot better to handhold than Ipad, which feels heavy after long period… with ipad, I just lay on my bed… put a pillow on my tummy, and put the Ipad on top of the pillow… (I know.. I know… I'm lazy….)

  22. Elizabeth Hahn 7 Oct 2011 Reply

Oh nice, my other aunt was thinking ipad, but I think they'd be harder for her to hold, and a bit overkill for what she needs. The Kindle Fire actually looks perfect. And, of course we aren't sure if she will like it or not.

  23. David Kanter 7 Oct 2011 Reply

Ipad is heavier to read with. My kindle 3 is perfect for just text. Ipad better for reading color magazines but yeah its heavier.. I use a pillow to prop up in bed.

  24. Brent Burzycki 8 Oct 2011 Reply

    +William Shockley no not yet…. maybe….

  25. William Shockley 8 Oct 2011 Reply

The only thing keeping me from the kindle fire is the lack of external storage. I can't live with only 8gb. Still leaning on the nook color, and then flashing it to CM7 or maybe MIUI.
