I heard an old fly by the seat of your pants old man told me once. Ant but two kind of pilots who fly in these sky's. He said their the one's who can take off of and land onto a flat top. And the rest who wish they could. Made me catch a rush just imagining it.

Out of the bunch, the F4 was the meanest looking, but at the same time seemed like the wrong candidate as an Angels aircraft.

In 69 we transitioned to the F4 the only plane used as a show plane with 2 seats. I was the backseater Crew Chief in #3 with LT Ernie Christensen. He retired as an Admiral, I retired as a Capt for UAL. The F4 was BIG and LOUD, the public loved it. But because of accidents and cost of operation it only flew a few years and was replaced by the A4 Skyhawk.
