"Multiple wildfires in Calif., fueled by strong Santa Ana winds and scorching temperatures, are so massive that they can easily be seen from space.

As +NPR's Alan Greenblatt reports, the fires have affected thousands of acres and put lives and property in jeopardy."

The image, captured by NASA’s Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) aboard the Aqua satellite, shows smoke trails stretching out over the Pacific Ocean.

    I have several friends in the fire areas… All evacuated…

    Yep – just lots of evacs it seems – hope the winds die down… that would sure help the issue… not that Southern CA does not catch on fire every year but this seems like a bad combo of winds and multiple fires..all the fire crews from up north here are all being sent south….
