If you were presented with the ability to be augmented to increase all your physical and mental abilities would you do it?

Based on the release of the new Video Game – Dues Ex – Human Revolution

You play Adam Jensen, an ex-SWAT specialist who's been handpicked to oversee the defensive needs of one of America's most experimental biotechnology firms. Your job is to safeguard company secrets, but when a black ops team breaks in and kills the very scientists you were hired to protect, everything you thought you knew about your job changes

Badly wounded during the attack, you have no choice but to become mechanically augmented and you soon find yourself chasing down leads all over the world, never knowing who you can trust. At a time when scientific advancements are turning athletes, soldiers and spies into super enhanced beings, someone is working very hard to ensure mankind's evolution follows a particular path.

You need to discover where that path lies. Because when all is said and done, the decisions you take, and the choices you make, will be the only things that can change it.

If you were presented with the same options but given the choice to opt for augmentation to increase all your physical and mental abilities would you do it?ο»Ώ

Some would certainly do so πŸ™‚
Depends i guess, what to augment and the potential side effects and the benefit of it. I would not say no, nor yes without serious thought.

BTW … Is that out on XboX?? Look… if you are going to give me an arm like the one Will Smith had on iRobot… ummmmmm YEA!!

  3. Andrew Ospishchev 26 Aug 2011 Reply

    Probably yes – mental:)
    Depends on the method.

+Mikael sh I have to say I would do it.. even with the side effects… but like a first model year car I think I would not want to be the first person and end up with a Model T design….. It is interesting to me the possible merging of humans and machines….

+Ricardo Williams Yes its out – just got it a day ago.. its pretty good so far.. lots of storyline….

  5. Brent Burzycki 26 Aug 2011 Reply

+Andrey Ospishchev as in visible or non visible implants and augmentations or the use of hammers and saws to install ?

  6. Michael A Koontz 26 Aug 2011 Reply

lol no +Brent Burzycki i would for sure not want to be a guinea pig on augmentations πŸ™‚

But it certainly is interesting. As i said, i would consider it seriously. But it realy do depend so iΒ΄m not saying regardless of side effects πŸ™‚

  7. Andrew Ospishchev 26 Aug 2011 Reply

+Brent Burzycki At the present time – no … no … no!
    In the future …?

If it meant that I wouldn't have to deal with my current physical problems AND I could walk again without wondering when I'll be laid up again? Hell Yes!!!

  10. Brent Burzycki 26 Aug 2011 Reply

+Levi Moore man I hear that – I would have a bionic gut to replace my screwed up one.. and while they were in there – I would be cool with super strength and a heads up display…. I mean who would not want some of these:

    Combat Strength
    Microfibrial Muscle
    Ballistic Protection
    EMP Shield
    Radar Transparency
    Synthetic Heart
    Power Recirculator
    Vision Enhancement
    Aggressive Defense System
    Spy Drone
    Energy Shield
    Environmental Resistance
    Run Silent
    Speed Enhancement

I'm having flashbacks to 6 Million Dollar Man and Bionic Woman… If there were no side effects, then, yes!

  12. Levi Moore 26 Aug 2011 Reply

I'll take all the above, please.

  16. Brent Burzycki 26 Aug 2011 Reply

It is a very interesting social issue…. I wonder haw the non tech masses would accept augmented people?

  17. Levi Moore 26 Aug 2011 Reply

The augmented would be met with discrimination and open hostility by most.

  18. Brent Burzycki 26 Aug 2011 Reply

+Levi Moore part of me would not mind because I would be able to smush them ….. but it is possibly the next major possible case of descrimination we will have to deal with as a race….

  19. Colby Brown 26 Aug 2011 Reply

Have you played this game yet? Loved the original.

  20. Elizabeth Hahn 26 Aug 2011 Reply

To a smaller degree we are already dealing with it. Steroids have affected sports, there's laser vision correction, artificial limbs and organs. The last 2 are currently replacements, not enhancements though.

  21. Brent Burzycki 26 Aug 2011 Reply

    +Colby Brown Playing it now… go buy it…..its good…

  22. Colby Brown 26 Aug 2011 Reply

Good times. I will certainly think about it, although I have no extra hours in the day anymore…but I guess that is a good thing πŸ™‚

  23. Brent Burzycki 26 Aug 2011 Reply

+elizabeth hahn yes but most of those are pretty hidden….. these are much more well not easily hidden… and if I get mad and pick up a car and crush it into powder.. well that could be an issue…

How do you maintain control of what is offered…. Like I can order a supercharger for my car to go faster…. what would keep people from doing crazy modifications…

  24. Brent Burzycki 26 Aug 2011 Reply

+Colby Brown I have really only dedicated myself to two games so far.. Mass Effect, and now I think this game…. I try to play a game from one end to the other.. so last year I played two games I think….. and I know what you mean about time… I need a clone… or two that I could trust….but I would want all experiences from all of them routed to me….

I will run out of time in my life to get 1/3 of the stuff done I want to do…

  25. Bill Moisuk 26 Aug 2011 Reply

"the ability to be augmented"? What does that mean?

  26. Elizabeth Hahn 26 Aug 2011 Reply

Very true, but you have to start somewhere. Some might claim that plastic surgery gives the power of youth. But I get your point.

  27. Vail Joy 26 Aug 2011 Reply

I would love a perfect visual memory

  28. Brent Burzycki 26 Aug 2011 Reply

+Vail Joy perfect visual memory…… that would be a heck of an upgrade….

+elizabeth hahn yes.. but as an example super powers or 32D's – I will take super powers….. well let me rethink that…..

  29. Elizabeth Hahn 26 Aug 2011 Reply

+Brent Burzycki LMAO! I would love to be able to control my need for sleep better. I want to either be awake or asleep, not grogginess. Of course all the other super powers would be sweet too.

  30. Eduardo Mueses 27 Aug 2011 Reply

Been able to take pictures with my eyes!

  31. Brent Burzycki 27 Aug 2011 Reply

+Eduardo Mueses I would want to be able to transfer with near field communications or bluetooth.. I do not need any more ports….

  32. Ricardo Lagos 27 Aug 2011 Reply

does it mean that now have to use my extra abilities .. — i'm fairly lazy — i'd like to be smarter, stronger, etc.. but not if it means that i have to do something with it.

  33. James Merritt 27 Aug 2011 Reply

I want zero twitch response, eidetic memory, and photographic reflexes … so yeah, I would. bring it on. Also, please include a healing factor.

  34. Brent Burzycki 27 Aug 2011 Reply

+James Merritt I think healing or nano worker bots to fix issues would need to be part of the deal…fall asleep a disaster and by morning – all better…

+Ricardo Lagos I think that would be up to you…..

  35. Michael A Koontz 27 Aug 2011 Reply

Yes, that i want!. The healing nanobots inside my blood stream. Sign me up now, so letΒ΄s go team wolverine πŸ™‚

  36. Gavin Dash 27 Aug 2011 Reply

Hell yea to robotic legs but no to the head implant. Legs serve one purpose and if you lose them at worst you cant walk, a lobotomy on the other hand comes with a risk to not just your mental faculties.
