Possibly one of the stranger contrails I have seen. Has anyone seen a plane at this altitude make a 180 like this before? Sorry kind of broken up in the middle but that is what happens when you totally legally take photos while driving (I mean your passenger takes photos while driving)

Seems like a pretty tight turn around just seems strange at the high altitide.

Yes I have seen contrails like that before. Maybe an evasive type maneuver.

    I'm sorry but I'm having a hard time seeing a 180° contrail.

Looks like a high altitude research plane. I've seen WB-57Fs do that here in Houston.

+Reo Cruz I hope you got a picture because that's a rare sighting since there's only two or three left in the world…

Uhm Wow. Wonder what kind of plane that was.

+matt west all three are here in Houston. I all hope I catch one one day since they fly rarely as well. Or I miss seeing it and only catch the contrails.

I think this is a research plane also at this point. It seems it is a Gulfstream and possibly doing earthquake fault mapping. Here in California we have the need for a lot of mapping.

+Reo Cruz that's cool, I was in Houston all day yesterday over on Westheimer, I live about an hour east of you…
sometimes we'll see some pretty wild air traffic over this way…

In training airspace I see that a lot. If conditions are ripe, you can see the entire air battle in the trails.

+bob boomer Does the government breath air? Why would it control itself?

Wow. What a mystery. It is a narrow contrail, probably military fighter doing an ordinary turn.

+Kurt Burgess I think it was a research plane. Significant contrail Gulfstream or larger airplane.

I am 46 and I have never seen that before until recently. In the past few months I have seen a 180 turn around Harrison ar. Twice now.
