I thought Google's tribute to Steve was simple and elegant–two things that Steve always appreciated. I am not by any means Google's biggest fan, but this definitely gets a +1 from me.

I thought the link would be directed to Wikipedia, instead it is to apple.com !

+Anup Verma I didn't follow the link. +2 for Google.

    yep… apple.com…. that even makes it more cool….. fans aside…. reasons aside… it gets a + from me also…

😕 … is this tribute for which country? cause in my location does not appear!!! 😐

+Shane Moss +Eric Yeh It is unusual for a company the size of Google to mention its arch rival's website on its homepage.

  8. Shane Moss 6 Oct 2011 Reply

    +Swaroop Subbanna Very!

And let's hope it stays that way…

Just to clarify – this photo on the background has nothing to do with the message in the red box.. thats just one of my photos since they let you customize your homepage background…

Linking to Apple.com… thats all Google…

  11. Swaroop Subbanna 6 Oct 2011 Reply

yeah I had seen your fireworks photos earlier and figured this is a customization of the homepage 🙂

  12. Shane Moss 6 Oct 2011 Reply

+Brent Burzycki I had already seen the page and still have the plain white default background so I realized that it was a customization. That being said, that is a pretty cool background.

+Shane Moss +Swaroop Subbanna When you look at it all dang day – it might as well be cool…. 🙂 – That said… I just like being honest…

+Brent Burzycki Well, I spend a bit of time in Google everyday, but didn't realize it was an option until today. I do spend more time anymore on Analytics and Google+. Search can be done in the URL bar so I rarely go to google.com for search.

  15. Brent Burzycki 6 Oct 2011 Reply

+Shane Moss yeh – now in chrome I always tend to just search in the bar also.. that said this is a global setting is you sync your chrome browsers….

  16. Shane Moss 6 Oct 2011 Reply

+Brent Burzycki Do the custom Google icons come through or just the generic white. Not sure I could give up the ones the create for special occasions.

  17. Brent Burzycki 6 Oct 2011 Reply

+Shane Moss no thats the catch i think…. they consider the doodle a background…. I have to say I like those also….

  18. Andy Suggs 6 Oct 2011 Reply

+Shane Moss If Google has a doodle you don't see it. Instead you see four colored balls just after the standard google icon(which act as a link to the doodle page).

Thanks +Andy Suggs. This will greatly alleviate my doodle-seperation anxiety.
