I would define all of these products "extremely expensive"
– I don't know a single photographer that could afford using such equipment out in the fields
– I don't know how much CO2 and stuff the company produced to make these. And how much we produce to make the money to get them.
I will say I have lenses that are more like car and house payments…
To run an inexpensive remote power supply for off camera flash is easily double this – not a perfect comparision – but http://www.paulcbuff.com/zeuspacks.php – these are the cheap ones..
This seems like you get a lot for the money – in a package that is actually well made…and might actually do what it says..
the cheaper versions of this stuff is truly junk.. Hopefully when +Scott Bourne gets his – he will review it and lets us all know..
This would be handy on a shoot in the Australian outback where power can be over 200km away
I am sure you know you can find solar panels with under $80 and USB chargers/batteries with under $50 on ebay amazon etc
This does do more than just charge USB.. It is an inverter also… To put this together in this small a package on one's own with parts would costs more than this unless you are not counting labor
There have been a couple of companies providing this for years. This company I had looked in to a while ago for a vehicle solution for 120V use for burning man
