If I had a bumper sticker that said "I love bacon", it doesn't mean I'm expecting to have bacon land on my lap (though it would nice). An expression on a car, sign or other doesn't mean we are expecting anything, it's just a statement of a belief.
+J. Rae Chipera, the ones I have heard talking about it are much more defensive, in fact, almost aggressive in their defensiveness. I think many actually believe the BS that religion in the US is under attack.
