Call me a tad confused here +Amazon.com – But I do not see how this information is correct saying that this lens will not work with either of the two Nikon bodies I own
I don't have a nikon, but I have heard from other photographers that they have issues with this lens on middle-grade camera bodies. I recommend the Tamron one, which is also much more inexpensive. I use the Tamron equivalent on my Canon, and I love it.
I heard of nikon having protocol issues with low end vs high end bodies communicating with the lens.

I suspect that's a result of retards commenting that they didn't know how to use their camera and it didn't work for them.

That's bull. My 70-200mm f/2.8 VRII works JUST FINE on my D300s. Shot my son's hockey game with it today:
