Happens to mine every other year since having kids… my ice maker froze up once and dumped so much water down the condenser coils I had large chunks coming out as big as a dinner plate

Actually looks like we have the same fridge

+Travis Bean I think most of these older refrigerators are all made by one or two manufacturers….. We will see what happens in a day when it's either a block of ice or getting replaced…

My problem was that it didn't always get shut (no thanks to cars that change color depending on temperature). It could also just be the door seal as well. Make sure when the door is closed it seals all the way around. They sometimes can get stiff and refuse to get sucked to the fridge frame.

All the pathways to the refrigerator side were totally blocked with ice also…. So that was also a slight issue…

    Lol

  16. You have no idea how useful I found this post.. and not because I have a froze up fridge. It's cold out and I have to blow dry the dog after his bath.. you just handed me the solution (because I DO have a tripod!)

I put a small heater (on low heat) in the freezer, closed the door, but monitored it.
