+Brent Burzycki – How are you liking the D3? I love mine!

  5. Brent Burzycki 26 Sep 2011 Reply

+Colby Brown I like it…. even with the extended battery it still dies way too fast thou…. and running juice defender makes the UI really sluggish……

+Brent Fishman I just cannot understand how we can make phones that die by 2 in the afternoon and that is ok…..I should not have to root it to make it a proper product.. Thou I am not happy with run time on any phones I have used…

  7. Brent Burzycki 26 Sep 2011 Reply

+Brent Fishman I guess the manufacturers feel 2pm and a dead phone is ok…. it's beyond me.. I use my phone to talk to people… god help me if I use it to browse the web or anything else then it is really dead…..

I think we should be able to get through an 8 hour day – not 8 hours of use – just an 8 hour day of on and off use…

+Colby Brown what case are you using? or are you using one at all?

  9. Wes Lum 26 Sep 2011 Reply

Pick up some spare batteries…i just bought two from Amazon for $20. I got an EVO, but hopefully droid batteries won't be that much more. Before the new batteries though…i just had chargers everywhere lol

+Brent Burzycki – No, I am with +Brent Fishman on this one, Juice Defender and any Task Manager do more harm then good.

I get crazy awesome battery life with the D3. The other day, with light to medium use I got 45 hours, no joke. Just a few calls, some browsing and replying to a few emails. I have the extended battery + I rooted and removed all the crapware that Motorola and Verizon put on there. It was really simple. There is even a script to do it for you. A dev just released the Bootloader for the D3 that allows you to flash a new rom, so I am just waiting on a vanilla (clean) rom to install, which will hopefully speed it up even more.

+Colby Brown do you have links to the Root you used….. I have to say I am a tech person but rooting my phone for some reason worries me a bit….. Also when i went looking for the steps everyone was warning about the D3 Root not yet being a good thing to do…..

Don't listen to people +Brent Burzycki, People are not bright 🙂 But listen to me…wait…how does that work. Haha. Either way…here are a few links.

Ok Root done – Bloatware removed…. we will see if i still call you guys friends later today….. Colby – did you remove the Moto Launcher? and replace it or did you just leave it…..

  15. Colby Brown 26 Sep 2011 Reply

I removed it, I use ADW right now. Might try Launcher Pro again…we will see. Bootloader was just released for the D3 which means some custom roms coming out soon 🙂

Also, I highly recommend erasing your battery statistics. Download the D3 Bootstrap Bootloader from the Market. Install it.

What you do is charge your phone to 100% then power it off and let it sit on the charger for about 15-20 minutes (This makes sure it is fully charged). Power it back on. Run the bootloader and reboot into recovery. From there use the volume keys to move to advanced tab and click the power button to select. Then click on Erase Battery Statistics. Then restart.

Then keep the phone off charge and let it run itself into the ground. Plug it back in and fully charge. This will give your phone the moer accuracy for determining the battery level moving forward. It was right after this that my phone lasted for 45 hours on a single charge.

Congrats on the root! Brent, just don't expect 45 hours…Colby used an extended battery. That makes a big difference…that's prob 3500mah vs 1500mah on the standard battery.

  18. Brent Burzycki 26 Sep 2011 Reply

I have the extra battery also….

  19. Brent Burzycki 26 Sep 2011 Reply

Now that I am an android hacker…. I will try the other stuff…

  20. Colby Brown 26 Sep 2011 Reply

My overclocked Xoom and Droid X didn't drain my battery 🙂 No overclock on the d3 yet, but I am sure soon 🙂

  21. Wes Lum 26 Sep 2011 Reply

Sorry +Brent Fishman , my comment was directed at +Brent Burzycki . 🙂 Too many Brents in one thread.

  22. Brent Burzycki 26 Sep 2011 Reply

+Colby Brown you sure that's calls the d3 bootstrap bootloader….

  23. Colby Brown 26 Sep 2011 Reply

Its called "Droid 3 Bootstrapper" by Kosh. Sorry 🙂

  24. Brent Burzycki 26 Sep 2011 Reply

+Colby Brown Not to be a pain here.. BUT – I cannot find this – there is a Droid X from that Dev…

Then there is this one: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.koushikdutta.droid3.bootstrap

Also are you using a specific ROM manager?

  25. Colby Brown 26 Sep 2011 Reply

Thats it +Brent Burzycki. It is called what I mentioned in my app, should have looked at the market 🙂

  26. Colby Brown 26 Sep 2011 Reply

I am not using a ROM manager at the moment

  27. Brent Burzycki 26 Sep 2011 Reply

+Colby Brown Well I suck – it seems my text message icons are gone… hmm.. nowhere to be found… did you run into any strange issues I should know about….have to uninstall or reinstall anything?

I will look at the bootstrapper….

  28. Colby Brown 26 Sep 2011 Reply

you might of removed the txt application with bloatware. I recommend Chomp SMS as the best alternative

  29. Brent Burzycki 26 Sep 2011 Reply

+Colby Brown Hmm I might just have done that….. now to work on the battery issues….

  30. Colby Brown 26 Sep 2011 Reply
