I go through a gate with armed guards every day. Once in a while I ask them "Is your safety on?" They never need to look; they just say "yes, sir, and have a nice day."
If they pew, something serious is going down, and I'll be keeping my head down! But yeah, next time I'll say "Got that thing set to "no pew?" They will probably know what I mean!
