Might be something Photographers might use for archiving deep storage items that do not need immediate access….
http://aws.amazon.com/glacier/
Its not as easy as many services we all use now – but it sure is cheap….
i will stick to $16/ 32Gig flash drives thankyou
+raven storm always an option.. just not offsite and not redundant… and at least for me I have a couple terrabytes of data… thats 500 bucks a Terrabyte using flash drives…
+Brent Burzycki, this is not intended for end users; it is an API for developers. This said, the prices are revolutionary. Expect some great backup software to be written for this. Arq for OSX has already said that they will support Glacier.
+Magnus Akselvoll Oh I know.. but either was AWS and things like Jungle Disk.. this will have software very quickely I assume.. 1c a gig is crazy pricing…
didn't read the pricing.. but i still worry about theft, censorship and seizure, especially from government types and corporate concerns…
+raven storm I don't see your angle here. This is just a storage solution, it is up to you what you put there. If you are worried about Amazon stealing your data or handing it over to governments, you should encrypt it before you upload it. A good backup solution will typically allow you to do this easily.
