I have a parker 99r using shark double blades. Really the key, at least for me, is to warm my face before putting shaving soap on. Other than that I can't think of anything else.
I just bought the one that's advertised by Rick from Pawn Stars and I love it! I get an incredible shave and the blades are super cheap once you need to replace them, but you should only need to buy a pack once or twice a year, at like 10 dollars a pack!
I think it's all about taking the time for the process …. Shave oil… Lather… Brush… Shave both directions… After shave balm…
I think I would enjoy taking time to shave… Vs tearing my face off in less than 5 minutes or the electric that I think is slowly destroying my aging skin…
Or I can get it over with and try a straight razor… After I pay up my insurance…
As +Brent Burzycki said .. take your time. What works for others is not necessary the optimum for your beard. Try different blades and then enjoy the ritual of a good shave.
One blade will last me a few months because I can't grow much beyond a mustache, which I don't shave off. Still working on the same box from 2012. And only $0.11 a blade.
Used one back when I first learned to shave and loved it. Definitely cheaper than today's razors for refills and lasts longer. But I am upgrading to a straight razor soon.
+Carl Chapel just go slow the first time, make sure you soften your beard with a hot shower or a hot cloth before you start. A decent soap and brush are a good thing to have as well. It's funny, I enjoy shaving now since I switched to safety razors.

There is a good video from the company… The art of shaving… Gives all the steps… I just hear it's an actual better shave…

It's a great shave, you DON'T need a lot of pressure. let the weight of the razor do the work.
Depending on your skin short strokes or long strokes might work better. Give it a try.
I've tried wet shaving and found it works the best with cold water.
Otherwise get yourself a good shaving brush and some high quality shave soap. you'll be in for a treat.

Are these razors ideal for heavy beards?
