boy was I in for a surprise… 30K in equipment later and now in 2013, I think I finally understand you cannot read a book and become a decent photographer. I have not learned even a bit of what I need to know if I was going to try to go pro…

I dunno. You've certainly developed a good 'style' in the what, two years that I've known you? Good feedback does wonders, I think 🙂
Another thought – one of the things I love about G+ over pretty much any platform is that one is compelled to do their absolute very best, every time. It's not a competition – it's more that your peers are also doing the same and you feel like you owe it to the feed.
there can be heavy competition solely based on what one thinks other expect without those others ever saying a word.. 500px is very good at that because it is so dedicated to only top level photos .. G+ to me is a place I can post high quality images and also junk from my phone or crazy other posts to show I am not only a photographer…
And that is why I like it here.. everyone does not need to try to be someone else… you can be who you are, whatever that might be…..
Completely agree +Brent Burzycki 🙂
I think you might of picked up a tidbit of knowledge along the way. . Seriously who are you trying to kid? You have the stuff. .
I might have figured out a few things.. But I am no pro…. I have been lucky to be around some try pros…. Sweeping their floors is a good way to learn..
It's hard to find anyone that even needs help sweeping the floor nowadays.
I was lucky years ago… But I think a huge part of any venture or getting better at a special skill is who you know…… And how you can respectfully pull as much data as possible from them..
I agree a personal mentor is invaluable.
+Brent Burzycki nice photo. diggin the contrast. really different in style. Keep growing.
If it was not for being or trying new things and being different I would have given this up long ago… Probably one reason I like photography.. Thanks for the comment..
