While it looks like a nuke going off – this is from a fire burning locally in Vacaville, CA. Jumped the fire lines today and took off.
Have to say the photo with the edit made it totally change the tone of the image.

Oh…good to know it wasn't "something else". Edits increased the drama a lot!
