My preference would be the black and white version, but that's just me.
I really like this version, Brent… somehow seems more sultry, a little sexier. IMHO.

Better subject separation, but still would like more feminine shadows/tones 🙂
I like the composition, however the color is over saturated. I know that is en vogue but in this case I believe the saturation detracts from the model.
I do like to try to experiment with different looks… And that really why I post shots like this that people might or might not like etc… I think many are worried about experimenting or experimenting and then posting thinking that experiment will somehow ruin their career… And you should and can only post specific images that you are "good" at……. I like seeing people who are willing to take risks and in turn get the reaction….. Between the two shots I posted I in the last day the reaction has been mixed on both… In turn I first understand my audience "mostly photographers" then I take those comments and mix them in with my personal thoughts a d use all of that very good and important critique info in my next editing session to widen my gaze for what people like…
No disrespect intended Brent. I was offering my critique with the intent of being helpful. Please continue perfecting your art and sharing with us.
Oh it was just a general comment… One thing I do not like about commenting is intended recipient is not always the person right above……. Just not spurred on by your comment… And you are correct it does seem to be in vogue lately… And I also can see how it does detract….. I think overall watching reaction to images is very interesting and very confusing all at the same time…. A grand social experiment it might be called….
Yep, ultimately it's all about what you want your pictures to look like. Perfect your own style.

I think many differentiate pro vs amateur by if you make money… I am thinking we might want to add a pro tends to shoot for what others might want to see vs. whatever I as the photographer just wants to go take photos of ad a true professional finds a marketplace for what they like to shoot and in turn gets paid for it…
There's no right or wrong, but for me I prefer the B&W version. The shadows on the model are more attractive to my eye. I think the colours are a bit intense in this one.
I think a lot depends on what message you are trying to put across. If the message is, "here's a pretty girl," then I think the B&W version works best. If the message is more about the Everlast bag in the background, then for me the colour version works better.
