As I come to the end of 2012 I am looking for some lost images that needed a lot more TLC than I knew how to give when I first shot them…. this model deserved more than the first run results….
Well they looked good back then but now when i look at them – my eye has changed greatly..
What you you all think?
Also seeing many are Lightroom users – does anyone know specifically how Lightroom handles Presets – do they stack? or is each individually run on the original image?
Those eyes are stunning and the lighting/detail is great. It has warmth without seeming over processed.
+Trenton Ray thanks.. the amazing part is her eyes are so blue when I edited this the first time I was told they are "too blue" and they look fake… – Ok – really? – I will let her know to get new eyes….
Her make-up artist did a great job. I know this next comment sounds like a weird thing to compliment, but I like the soft glow to her right.
+Jason Dunn I think it sets her off a bit from the background.. it is just a cool aftereffect of the toning… lets call it a lucky mistake….
You can never have too blue…. tho I have a soft spot for a raven haired beauty with icy eyes so some personal bias lol
+Trenton Ray you are not alone…
She has a lot of features in common with Kristen Stewart (in a good way) so that's a nice bonus! 🙂
+Jason Dunn Other than that whole Twilight mess… yes… 🙂
Hey +Brent Burzycki as usual splendid portrait. As for stacking your LR presets the short answer is yes, definitely. You have to stay aware of what presets you are stacking as not to cancel out similar settings from your individual setting. My brain hurts..I know someone can explain it better
+Terrell Woods hmm.. interesting… so either start with a base image and reset with each change – or stack… I think my possibilites just went up even higher… I wonder how it stacks… I need a pro like +Trey Ratcliff or +Frederick Van Johnson or some preset guru to let us all know how to best stack presets…
I'm following you on that…but not only do you have to reset …you have to go into that sync menu of each individual preset you are stacking and uncheck/check the values that conflict and/or cancel out the respective actions of your custom mix….and then*save!*
+Terrell Woods lordy….. well when i edit.. I just edit till I like it.. then give up… stacking makes replicating the look of the image even more impossible.. so I better learn to save a ton of virtual copies.. and virtual copies are another interesting beast…
The presets will stack, but you do have to be aware of what settings the presets have in common, as the latest one applied will take precedence.
This is to say that if you apply 2 presets that adjust clarity, only the last one counts. But if you apply 1 that adjusts clarity, and another that adjusts sharpness, both will be in full effect.
+Craig Pifer thanks.. that is good and bad.. I think…..now I need to watch my histories much more closely…
I'm still really new to LR, and don't really use presets much yet. If you are making your own, you should be able to sort them by what values they are adjusting. As long as you remember to check only the value you want in the preset when saving it, it should be clean and easy to use.
+Craig Pifer says it so much clearer than me! Cool
sooo cool……
Good luck with the LR presets. That is going to be one of my New Year's resolutions — to figure that mess out. Nice capture, btw.
