No I want moderation tools more than just a ban or remove…. We need move a thread and other such moderation tools… We just need them before the communities get messy… I am sure they are coming.. But move a thread would be incredibly helpful sooner than later…

I will go as far to say communities are really for people and not page accts to be posting on unless it's relevant and not an ad to visit their page..

It does create a lot of work, +Ardith Goodwin. I have to look through lots of profiles every day, in order to make individual decisions whether to let them in. That said, it does help keep out spammers, and allow you to create a group which is less prone to dysfunction.

I have been lucky and only had 1 problem. My community is smaller though, only around 160, if it grows much larger I may need to rethink things though. We do need more controls.
I would like to make it so that people could only get into my group if invited. I get dozens or even hundreds of people per day requesting to get into the Nature Photography group. From the beginning, I wanted this to be a small group, so I'm not letting the vast majority in. It's a hassle to deal with. It would be a lot easier if I could just invite the few, rather than decline the many.
Mods do help if they are the right person… I have a ton of community bulletin board experience… I run several outside of here… A fire mechanics board and a few others… I like to keep the rules simple and the justice swift but not overly ugly in its implementation.
You are 100% correct that a tightly moderated membership filtering is the best way to build a strong community.. I do that on all the boards I run… It makes people work to be part of the group etc…
+Alma Alvarado they are everywhere and will never go away and people continue to ick on the links they post…. Failure to understand the technology people use daily makes those people vulnerable to all kinds of issues and problems…. People need to slow down and understand what they do daily and take the time or they will continue to get exploited

I agree we need the ability to bump threads, make sticky threads, recategorize threads, shut off membership requests, and much more.

Currently, no. One person has volunteered. If it comes to it, I will have him join me as a moderator.

I'm not a moderator, but some of the spam I've seen I've reported and deleted(from my view). Where do these people come from?? !?
